323. Tuna salad sandwiches

I know, I'm not supposed to eat tuna. But I do, a bit, because it's so delicious and also because if I gave up doing everything enjoyable for the sake of the planet I'd never do anything, eat anything or go anywhere and I'd still bloody well die of cancer so fuck it, I say.

Tuna salad sandwiches are the perfect home-worker lunch and, when followed by an apple, nutritious, too.

  1. it's our age i suspect. tuna out'a tin was de riguer in our youth and something of a salty, exotic treat. none of us had ever seen a real tuna or knew about all the dead dolphins, so chomped on, happy in our ignorance. i do like a god old egg mayo sarnie with cress obv. but. my fave has to be ham and mayo, white bread, don't skimp on the white pepper. excellent broke-up-with-a-lover-food, before you remember about your waistline and being back 'on the market'.

MH agrees with you vehemently and throws in 'it has to be home made'. Plus he makes the case for M&S prawn sarnies on brown bread or cheese and coleslaw. he went as far as to say it is comfort food. i agree. sarnies take time to make proper-like, and part of eating is in the preparation and the anticipation and a sandwich rarely fails to deliver when made at home.

an apple is good for the body and the doctor but the sandwich is nutritious for the soul and the nostalgia muscles. don't even get me onto deviled eggs or MH has reminisced about... a crisp sandwich! one thing i won't be campaigning for is the powdered asparagus soup of my childhood. ugh. sick bucket ahoy.

i leave you with: tuna and sweetcorn. why oh why oh why? and you know how much i diid the corn of sweetness. perplexed of nunhead.
